✅ Safe to feed
Chicken, turkey, lean beef
Always cooked plain, no bones, no seasoning.
Salmon, cod, sardines
Fully cooked or tinned in spring water. Never raw.
Eggs
Cooked through. A great protein top-up.
Rice, oats, barley, quinoa
Cooked in unsalted water.
Sweet potato, potato, pumpkin
Cooked and unseasoned. Pumpkin helps digestion.
Carrot, green beans, peas, zucchini
Raw or steamed, chopped small.
Broccoli, spinach
Small amounts only — a side, not the main event.
Apple (cored), banana, blueberries
Fruit is a treat: keep it to a few pieces.
Plain yogurt, cottage cheese
Unsweetened only. Skip if lactose sensitive.
Peanut butter
Xylitol-free labels only. Check every jar.
Olive oil, fish oil
A teaspoon or two for coat health.
⛔ Never feed
Chocolate & cocoa
Theobromine causes seizures and heart failure.
Xylitol / birch sugar
Triggers a fatal insulin crash, even in tiny amounts.
Grapes & raisins
Can cause sudden kidney failure with no safe dose.
Onion, garlic, leek, chive
Destroys red blood cells, raw or cooked.
Macadamia nuts
Causes weakness, tremors and vomiting.
Alcohol & raw dough
Rising dough ferments in the stomach.
Cooked bones
Splinter and pierce the gut.
Avocado
Persin plus a choking-hazard pit.
Caffeine
Coffee, tea and energy drinks are toxic to dogs.
Salt, nutmeg, heavy spice
Salt poisoning and nutmeg toxicity are real risks.
If your dog eats any of these, call your vet or an animal poison line immediately.
